Tall Order is first and foremost an RvR/PvP guild. We strive to excel in RvR and we will make sure we have a heavy presence in all zones. We will be engaged in all aspects of RvR: skirmishes, battlefields, scenarios. Considering the above objective Tall Order has to build a decent roster. We recruit all Order classes, and we have a very well-defined guild structure to accommodate 100+ people and still let them take on unique roles and tasks. However, it's hard to get to know all the guild members when the guild becomes too huge.. Therefore we won't have more than 120 members. With 120 members we have approximately 40 people in each race (dwarfs, empire, high elves) and that's enough in case there is a race-defined objective. The ideal size of the guild is yet to be determined but the idea is to find the optimal size so that the RvR objectives are achieved without sacrificing the social aspect of the guild. If we feel 70 people is enough for that then so be it. Please read our FAQ to learn more about Tall Order. Time to talk more about the guild structure and hierarchy. Tall Order has a unique system in place which allows members to gain ranks and responsibilities. Both ranks and responsibilities are unique and provide an opportunity to make a lot of important guild decisions and actually participate in building the guild. Please take a minute to examine the diagram of the guild structure.

Structure

Ranks description:

Commander StarStarStarStar

Guild leader. Responsibilities include but are not limited to guild design, promotions of officers, guild site upkeep, ventrillo/teamspeak upkeep. Helps senior officers when needed. Heroseeker, General, Chief Librarian and Treasury Keeper report to Commander.

Heroseeker StarStarStar

Senior officer. Responsibilities include player recruitment, keeping the guild classes balanced in numbers (meaning recruiting classes we lack), advertising the guild. Heroseeker works together with Class Leads and Captains when necessary to ask them to group with potential recruits. Guild application maintenance, new applications and recruitment through forums are also functions of the Heroseeker. Assistant Seekers help and report to Heroseeker.

General StarStarStar

Senior officer. General is the head of the army. Responsibilities include RvR/PvP strategy and planning, keeping track of ongoing battles, gathering information about enemy formations and winning battles :) Captains of all 3 factions (Elves, Empire, Dwarfs) report to General.

Chief Librarian StarStarStar

Senior officer. Responsibilities include updating guildsite with new info, events, links, screenshots, movies etc; recording guild's victories; gathering quest info and making it available to guild members; moderating forums together with the Commander. Chief Librarian is a historian as well and therefore is knowledgeable about Lore. Assistant Librarians help the Chief Librarian whom they report to.

Treasury Keeper StarStarStar

Senior officer. Responsibilities include guild bank structure and maintenance in game and on the website. Treasury Keeper is in charge of item and coin deposit, withdrawal and withdrawal policy. Treasury Keeper is also in charge of loot during raids. Treasury Watchers report to the Treasury Keeper.

Assistant Seeker StarStar

Officer. Responsibilities include identifying potential recruits together with the Heroseeker. Helping Heroseeker with his/her duties. Assistant Seekers are expected to follow up on the progress of recruits and help evaluating the recruits at the end of the trial period.

Captain StarStar

Officer. Captain is the head of the race. There are three Captains: Captain of Dwarfs, Empire Captain and Captain of Elves. Captain's responsibility is to learn about all 4 classes within the race and advise the General about each class abilities. Captains are also responsible to develop a strategy in RvR based only on 4 classes of their races. They can be viewed as the mini-raid leaders. If General is unavailable and there is a planned or unplanned military action Commander will ask one of the Captains to lead the army. Captains are also expected to help Class Leads to evaluate potential recruits. Class Leads and Veterans report to Captains.

Assistant Librarian StarStar

Officer. Assistant Librarians help the Chief Librarian to document and post information and keep the guild members informed. Assistant Librarians are frequent website posters and posses some moderator's permissions. Assistant Librarian's main task though is to explore and record PvE content of Warhammer and to educate new members about available quests.

Treasury Watcher StarStar

Officer. Treasury watchers are Treasury Keeper's assistants. Their main task is to keep an eye on the bank's transactions and to investigate suspicious treasury activities. If they spot an intruder or a heir of Destruction in the guild they report it to the Treasury Keeper and/or Commander.

Class Lead Star

Junior Officer. There are 12 Class Leads in the guild - one for each Order class. The main responsibility of the Class Lead is to educate new recruits and teach them all the tricks about the class. Class Leads are also expected to assist the Heroseeker and Assistant Seekers to evaluate potential recruits. Conscripts and Recruits report to Class Leads.

Veteran

Veteran. Veterans form the backbone of the army. They are experienced players and represent the elite force.

Conscript

Conscript. Conscripts are not as experienced as the Veterans but still are formidable fighters. They represent the main bulk of the army.

Recruit

Recruit. Recruits are new guild members. After the 2 weeks trial period they get promoted to Conscripts.

There are some shared responsibilities as well. All officers should be instrumental in helping others, forming and leading groups and ensuring the guild rules are followed.

Note: Ranks and responsibilities are not set in stone and are subject to change. It's possible and even likely that some changes will take place when we know more about the game. A good example of the potential rank is a Crafting Master. We don't know anything about Warhammer crafting at this point, so no rank is introduced yet. Apply to guild

WHA Community Spotlight - Tall Order

by Yarilo, 234 days ago

Tell us a little about "Tall Order". What prompted you to found the guild, and how has it grown since?

Yarilo: When you think about guilds in general there are several things one hopes to gain as a member: fun from grouping and socializing with the same group of people, achieving objectives as a guild such as RvR and Raids, growing and taking on responsibilities, becoming noticeable to other guilds/players, helping others. However, it's often the case that guilds don't deliver what they advertise. My main intention was to design and create the guild that has its members as the main focus. There are a lot of guilds that get created because someone wants to be the leader. As a result those guilds have no objective and the guild structure favors the leadership. I founded Tall Order because I believe it possible to create a truly outstanding guild that cares about its members. The guild was born on August 3rd and I have watched it grow to over 50 members since then.

How did you decide to fight in the Army of Order?

Yarilo: Tall Order is a guild that welcomes challenge. The Army of Destruction seems to be more popular and if the trend continues Order will have their hands full when the game launches. It actually suits our purpose well as you can see by the guild name.

What sort of ranking system do you have within your guild?

Yarilo: I am a strong believer in structure and organization. Tall Order's guild structure was designed to cover most areas of the game with a strong emphasis on the RvR aspect of it. Therefore the system features several ranks, all of which serve specific purposes to ensure the guild functions smoothly and provides representation for all levels of the guild. The main idea of our hierarchy is to stay organized even when we have 80 or 90 people. There is nothing worse than joining a big guild and feeling like no one knows you and no one cares about you. That's why we have officers whose job is to ensure they know players on the personal level. A further facet of the guild government that sets us apart is that the system is designed to encourage active advancement through officer positions. We will start at release with none of the upper level positions filled (excluding the Commander) and all promotions will be dependent on merit and dedication to the guild.

Can you discuss your application process?

Yarilo: All the applicants are expected to read our Rules, FAQ and the Application process thread stickied in the Application Forum before applying. When players decide to apply for membership with Tall Order they need to answer several questions. All applications are discussed internally. The main recruiter has the rank of Heroseeker and makes the ultimate decision whether the applicant is worthy of becoming a member of Tall Order. Other officers help him to decide. We look to further improve our application process via the use of real time interviews on our very own guild Ventrilo channel. After the game release we will further improve the process by appraising recruits’ in-game performance and temperament. Recruits will have an evaluation period that will last 2 weeks prior to full membership status.

No doubt the qualities you value in applicants also reflect the qualities of the guild as a whole. What are they?

Yarilo: Tall Order is a mature guild that recruits dedicated and experienced players. The purpose of our application process is to ensure that only those who are truly interested in excelling at WAR while participating actively in the Tall Order community are accepted. We are not interested in selfish, rude or immature people. We take our application process seriously and appreciate being able to tell the applicants put effort into favorably presenting their applications. As a result, Tall Order players are very experienced and most have over 3 years of knowledge in various MMO games. We plan to become one of the best guilds and to achieve this goal we recruit knowledgeable players who can proudly call themselves MMO veterans. However, none of this is at the cost of a fun-loving spirit and sociable personality. We are not a conclave of automatons bent on control, but a fantastic group of people with the drive to succeed.

How does it feel to be in the guild, and how do you function as a community?

Yarilo: We decided that the best way to answer this question was to ask the entire guild! Selected testimonials

Slinky: It feels good to know that I will be going into the release of a new game with a bunch of people who I've gotten to know over the past months. We will already have a structure and a common goal to proceed forward into the Warhammer world to experience all that the developers have put there for us.

Atlas: Being accepted into Tall Order is a great honor. Even when the game is still far away everyone has a passion for the game and love discussing every aspect of it. It is easy to see how mature the guild and its members are. As a close group or community we openly discuss many issues and value the input of every member. Our forums are filled with knowledge and experience and since we have a Ventrilo server that makes getting to know each other much easier. I am proud to be in what will be a great guild come release.

Delphium: Having been a member of this guild for the past month, I can really say that I've found my home. This is one of the most welcoming and tight-knit guilds that I've been a part of... and the game is still 8 months away. We all want to have fun, and definitely do in the forums, but the sense of maturity found in Tall Order allows us to discuss other important issues, both game related and not, and have your opinion be heard.

As a guild, do you have any plans to contribute to the community, and if so please describe them.

Yarilo: Tall Order will strive to be a prominent guild on our server. Our members are dedicated to assisting. Members have expressed a sincere desire to be one of those guilds that you know you can count on. When wandering the world if we come across someone in trouble with a monster or being attacked by Destruction players, we will gladly leap to their aid. The best way to become an influential guild on any server is to act above and beyond what people expect of you and be an incredibly positive addition to the community. Taking a few minutes to help someone have a better day will go a long way. We wish to be challenged by players that will return the example of respect we will model. Our main goal as a guild is to have fun, while doing everything we can to assure that everyone else, friend or foe, is doing the same. We are going to bring the maturity and overall good spirit found in this guild to whatever server we decide to roll, with the hopes of promoting these qualities.

What can we expect of "Tall Order" upon release of WAR?

Yarilo: You can expect an RvR focused army that will do all it can to further the efforts of Order on all 3 battle fronts. If the content and game mechanics should support it efficiently we can be expected to tackle as many of the toughest PvE encounters we can fit in between beating back the hordes of destruction that are sure to be storming our gates. You can expect to find us storming every aspect of the game with passion and laughter. We will be immediately visible on our server as an organized group committed to enjoying this game as much as possible.

What's your stance on "builds"? Do you require your members to conform to certain rules when choosing their characters' abilities?

Yarilo: From what we know of the game, there doesn't seem to be a way to make your character completely ineffective as long as you keep to the role of the archetype you have chosen to play. If that is the truth in-game, then there would be no reason to require a specific build or perhaps more accurately shun a particular build. That said, because we are committed to conquering everything we set our sights on I expect our players will create characters fully capable of competing superbly. To keep the guild relatively balanced we are keeping track of our career population numbers and as we reach our goal numbers career choice will be weighted heavier in recruitment.

What's your stance on "Gold Farmers" who proceed to sell their in-game gold onto players for real cash?

Yarilo: Tall Order as a guild will not do any form of gold farming and selling currency or items to other players for real money. Our function is to have fun and play the game properly, not to turn a profit. We trust our members to behave honorably and not take part in gold farming, buying or selling. Any evidence of violating the Terms of Service will be grounds for disciplinary action. Gold farming, hacking, and other infringements are not, and never should be, condoned. They take away from the immersive experiences that make MMOs so valuable as well as being highly exploitive.

What is Tall Order’s opinion of "Corpse camping", "Ganking", and "Graveyard camping"?

Yarilo: Tall Order does not play this game to drain the enjoyment out of the game by griefing other players. We do not support camping or ganking in any form. That means we won't purposefully engage in camping or ganking or other unfair methods. Still there are cases (like accidental "train") that can't really be prevented. As one of our members Xix put it "I guess it all boils down to fairness. I try and be fair and apply that old saw about "doing unto others." If I don't like it done to me, then there's a really good chance I won't be doing it to others."
